Lacey vs. Nikki Roxx

swa102206lacey_roxx1.jpg

This match came about as Lacey answered Roxx's open challenge. Roxx has been making overtures about moving up the card and testing herself against better opponents, and backstage, Dave Prazak clearly thinks there is a lot of potential in Roxx becoming a main event level performer in SHIMMER. Stylistically I see this as a great match, as Roxx has got a lot of fan support, and Lacey's heelish style (full of complaining and stalling) should play into it well. In fact, right off the bat we get impassioned chants of Nikki - Roxx! Lacey - Sucks!.

Sara Del Rey & Nikki Roxx vs. The Minnesota Homewrecking Crew (Rain & Lacey)

swa060207homewreckingcrew_reyroxx1.jpg

The man-hating Rain and Lacey wore matching outfits with custom made white tank-tops with their names printed artfully on the front. They both removed their tops, revealing their delicious rock-hard abs. SHIMMER champion Sara Del Rey led her partner Nikki Roxx to the ring, fending off any evil-doers with her plastic "death rey" toy gun. This match was booked after the shenanigans that went down during the finals of the SHIMMER title tournament. It was Del Rey vs.

Sarah Stock vs. Daizee Haze

swa060207haze_stock1.jpg

I always knew Sarah Stock was good, but when I finally got to see her in action with my very own eyes, when she debuted with SHIMMER, she instantly became my co-favorite female wrestler - along with Sara Del Rey. It doesn't hurt that she's Canadian, either. Sarah Stock's skills are so superior to everyone else's, it sometimes makes everyone else look bad by comparison. TNA would be very smart to scoop her up immediately. Her opponent, Daizee Haze, has taken her share of beatings throughout the previous twelve SHIMMER DVD's - and picked up an inspiring number of wins too.

Cheerleader Melissa vs. Portuguese Princess Ariel

swa060207melissa_ariel1.jpg

Everybody's favorite San Francisco treat, Cheerleader Melissa, was prepared to eat the perpetually cheerful Ariel for lunch. Good response to both girls from the crowd. Starts out as a striking orientated bout, with Melissa being extremely intense, and Prazak talking up how easily she was eliminated from the Shimmer title tournament. Good intensity actually from both girls. Melissa seems pretty pissed off about something and definitely is working as aheel in this matchup. There are some nice hints of this, following a Curb-stomp that Ariel only escapes pinfall from by grabbing the ropes.

Portia Perez vs. MsChif

swa060207mschif_perez1.jpg

This Match features one of the most dangerous female wrestlers, MsChif against one of the up and coming female fighters in Shimmer, Portia freakin' Perez. Portia really must have something to prove going against MsChif seeing as how most cower in her wake. But is sheer nerve enough to overcome MsChif? Check out this solid match to find out!

Eden Black vs. Lexie Fyfe

swa060207fyfe_black1.jpg

On commentary, Black is again mocked by Prazak and Danger. It’s light-hearted of course. She controls her larger foe oddly with headlocks and other holds in the early stages of this encounter. Fyfe doesn’t get a look in, until “Indy-riffic” Eden Black makes a mistake and is caught with a clothesline. Fyfe looks good beating down her victim here, using her weight to suppress Black’s speed advantage. The fans are into this, as Fyfe resorts to back-rakes and choke hold.

Malia Hosaka vs. Josie

swa060207josie_hosaka1.jpg

Josie's lost a lot of weight by the looks of things, and moves really well, aggressively taking Hosaka down at the outset. Malia is forced to retire to the outside early, to get the breather. Josie totally out wrestles her heel opponent here, before falling prey to a neat side-kick.I really enjoyed the finish of this, and the overall story. Josie was the less experienced, rash baby face, opposed to Hosaka’s usually sturdy heel demeanor.

Serena Deeb vs. Alicia

swa060207deeb_alicia1.jpg

Shimmer volume 13 starts right off with this great opening match. Serena’s done little of note in recent times, but is still over with the crowd in this match, which is a nice follow-up from Serena missing the Shimmer title tournament, and being replaced by the opportunistic Alicia. Deeb comes across more aggressive than I can remember her before, and is surprisingly dominant, working the arm and shoulder. Alicia wrestles in a classic heel fashion, the like of which Raven would surely love, and she’s growing on me for sure after this well executed match.

Mailia Hosaka vs. Daizee Haze

swa070107haze_hosaka2.jpg

This is Shimmer's first tournament, and the winner will be crowned the first ever Shimmer champion. This is surprisingly the first time that Haze and Hosaka have wrestled again each other in Shimmer. Malia is really on her game tonight after beating Allison Danger in round one, but the fans are on Haze's side tonight chanting, "Flower Power!" With the crowd on Haze's side can she beat the experienced Malia Hosaka?

Sara Del Rey vs. Alicia

swa070107delrey_alicia1.jpg

This is Shimmer's first ever tournament and the winner will be crowned the first Shimmer Champion. Sara Del Rey is obviously the fan favorite in this tournament as the crowd repeatedly chanted "Next world champ!", but newcomer Alicia has already caused one upset tonight. Can she make it two in a row?
