This was the exciting 3-way match for the APW Internet Title. Champion, The Champ, JJ Perez defended his title against top-contenders, Cheerleader Melissa and Scotty Aboot.

Several dozen wrestling fans crowded into a garage in a Hayward industrial park on Saturday night for the latest installment of All Pro Wrestling's "Gym Wars" for a chance to witness the rise of perhaps the next Hulk Hogan or Chyna. If hanging around loud, over-enthusiastic wrestling fans who like to share a community bucket of Red Vines and hurl homophobic epithets in a dingy room on a summer evening is your thing, then you should check out one of these matches some time (They're FREE! The next round of "Gym Wars" is at the same location on July 29). Saturday's crowd was totally wowed by matchups featuring such colorful characters as Billy Blade, the Italian tag team The Mafia, and self-proclaimed "Brazilian beast" known simply as Kafu. A couple times, some of these brave Spandexed fighters were tossed out of the ring and onto the concrete pavement just three feet away from myself and my folding metal chair. Classy.
But the highlight of the evening had to be the three-way match between reigning Worldwide Internet Champion JJ Perez, proud Canadian challenger Scotty Aboot -- and Cheerleader Melissa. Yup, a guy versus a guy versus a girl. And honestly, she held up on her own quite nicely. Don't let her All-American smile fool you. This five-foot-eight, 142-pound pom-pom waver easily pummeled and kicked her opponents more than a few times. Too bad she lost. I was rooting for her. Hell, I think I'm in love now.
