Roxxi

ClickWrestler of the Week

Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, profiles the Hardcore Honey, Roxxi, who made her return to TNA after an extended working vacation in Mexico.

She Roxxs the world

Nicole Raczynski became friends with April Hunter in the Boston area. April, who was learning wrestling from Killer Kowalski, suggested Nicole give it a try. Nicole agreed and became one of Kowalski's students. She began her career under the modified name of Nikki Roxx. After her initial debut in March of 2002, she teamed with April as The Killer Babes. Her early career was mostly in the various women's promotions, though she did have runs in Ring of Honor, Chaotic Wrestling and AAA (Mexico). She was noticed by TNA's Abyss, who suggested her for TNA. She accepted the offer in the summer of 2007.

The Voodoo Queen

Nikki was brought into TNA as a valet to BG and Kip James. The group was known as the Voodoo Kin Mafia (a joke on Vince McMahon's initials, VKM). Nikki's character was supposed to be a voodoo witch/medium from New Orleans. She was renamed Roxxi Laveaux, grand-daughter of the legendary Marie Laveaux. She would often dance around and bewitch male wrestlers and refs. The team would fall apart in short order, with Roxxi being fired by VKM. She would then begin a run as a Knockout, still utilizing her voodoo priestess/witch character. Her finisher was called the Voodoo Drop. Roxxi was a major part of the tournament to determine the first TNA Knockout champion. She made it to the finals, losing to Gail Kim.

After that loss, Roxxi went through some character adjustments The character would get a makeover (and slight name change) thanks to the Beautiful People. During a tag match with Roxxi and ODB v Velvet Sky and Angelina Love, Roxxi lost. Her head was shaved bald as part of the prematch stipulation.

The Hardcore Honey

After losing her hair, Roxxi dropped her surname and adopted a more brutal wrestling style. Roxxi would mix singles and tag battles into her schedule. She usually teamed with Taylor Wilde, facing off against The Beautiful People. Roxxi was being groomed for a possible Knockout title run, until a backstage altercation with Rhaka Khan. Both women were quietly taken off television. Roxxi completely disappeared from TNA, heading back to the indies.

She took back her old name of Nikki Roxx in the indies. She made several appearances in Ring of Honor and Shimmmer before heading down to Mexico. Nikki went on a body-reshaping routine to earn herself a more sculpted look. She also bleached her hair to distance herself, even further, from her old Roxxi character. Roxxi spent about four months in AAA, learning from the Luchadores, both male and female. She returned to TNA, again as Roxxi, on December 17th. While taping the next series of TNA shows, Roxxi broke her ankle in two places during a match with Hamada. It is unclear how long she will be sidelined by this devastating injury.

In Conclusion:

The lovely, yet dangerous, Roxxi/Nikki Roxx has been a mainstay in women's wrestling for over 7 years now. She has undergone a few identity adjustments and her skill level has skyrocketed. The current injury could potentially shorten or even end her career. Regardless of the future of this great Knockout, Nicole Raczynski has been had an awesome career.
