ClickWrestler of the Week - 10/2/09 - Lacey Von Erich

ClickWrestler of the Week

TNA has a new Knockout, Lacey Von Erich. The 23-year old beauty is keeping the family name alive in the world of wrestling. She has adopted her father's Discus Punch and her grandfather's Iron Claw as her top weapons. Lacey has already worked in the WWE Developmental system, as well as the indies. Lacey Von Erich is this week's Wrestler of the Week.

Family Tradition

Lacey Adkisson was born on July 17, 1986. She spent her early years in the Denton, Texas area, along with her famous family. Lacey's mother, Catherine, relocated Lacey and her sister, Hollie, to southern California after Catherine divorced Kerry Von Erich in 1992. Lacey would eventually become a model, before deciding to take up the family business.

In April, 2007, Lacey was accepted into the WWE Developmental system. The offer was due, in part, to long-time family "enemy", Michael Hayes. Hayes worked as a talent scout for the WWE and found positions for the children of Kerry Von Erich and Terry Gordy. Lacey took on the family surname of Von Erich and began working as a manager/valet. Over time, Lacey would begin to wrestle other Divas. Her first wrestling match was a losing effort to another third generation star, Natalya aka Nattie Neidhart. Creative offered several options for Lacey, including a name change to Keri Von Erich. Before Lacey could be called up to one of the three main brands, she was released from Florida Championship Wrestling. The details of her release are not clearly known.

Into the indies (and out of her clothes)

Lacey disappeared for several months, after her WWE Developmental Territory release. She would reappear in Match, 2008, working an indy show with Missy Hyatt in New Jersey. After a few shows on the east coast, Lacey returned to the Dallas area. While working in Dallas, Lacey got two offers. The first offer was to work for Jimmy Hart's Wrestlicious organization. The promotion was an all-girl group, similar to Shimmer and several Japanese promotions. The second offer was to pose for Playboy magazine. Lacey did the photo shoot, although none of the photos have yet to be released.

Not long after joining Wrestlicious, Lacey started suffering with horrible migraine headaches. While working for her own advertising company in California, Lacey checked herself into the hospital. It was determined that Lacey was suffering from meningitis, an inflammation of the covering of the brain and/or spinal column. She spent several months in the hospital, before finally being released. She was given a clean bill of health.

The Future

After her recovery, Lacey went back to work for Wrestlicious. She also began working for various NWA promotions, mostly in California and Texas. She began to wrestle in bare feet, a tribute to her uncle, Kevin. On September 21, 2009, Wrestlicious issued a statement that Lacey had signed on with TNA. Lacey will work for both companies, at least for the time being.

In Conclusion:

Lacey Adkisson has had a couple of false starts with her wrestling career. Lacey now has the opportunity to continue the legacy of the Von Erich family name. Whether she will succeed like some members of the family did, or fail like others is something only time will tell. As for now, she's the Wrestler of the Week.
